Snapchat – Make way for the new e-com platform

Nike slamdunked its way to Snapchat record books by clocking incredible sales of its stunning sneakers – Air Jordan 3 JTH. Coming in with barely a whisper, it exited in loud decibels, in 23 minutes, flat. Beat that!

So, what was the brouhaha all about?

And how exactly did Snapchat ace it? Beyond the obvious big-ticket words, you mean? That is… Air Jordan & Limited Edition. Hey, if you are a Bulls fan, specifically an MJ fan, you definitely want to lay your hands on those. And perk up your feet.

But there’s more to Air Jordan 3 JTH than just MJ. Did we tell you that? JTH spells out as Justin Timberlake / Tinker Hatfield. While the former maybe a household name, the latter may not be quite so. Well, what if we told you that he’s epic on his own. Think of all those stellar Nike shoes you’ve donned or would love to. Hatfield is an American designer of multiple Nike athletic shoe models, including the just-released rave.

Here’s how Snapchat snapped the game & sales. Big time!

It was an NBA All-Star weekend with Team LeBron and Team Stephen battling it out. While the bragging rights stayed with LeBron & his squad with a narrow win, the true star was the sneakers that stole the night with stealth advertising on Snapchat! A life-size Michael Jordan augmented-reality lens promoting the new, unreleased Air Jordan III Tinker sneaker went on sale exclusively via a special QR code within the app during the game. Just went on to prove how augmented reality, e-commerce, exaggeration and hype make all the required noise. And some.

If Nike can do it, who do you think would be next? What’s your best guess?
